You can change the number of backups you save by editing C:\Windows\Scanreg.ini and
change
MaxBackupCopies=14
to what ever number you want it to be, this is mine 14 the default is 5.
Your CD Rom will work in DOS so I think your only solution now is the save all your
important files and do a format and reinstall Win98. Its always good to do a fresh
rebuild now and then. If you do that then change your MaxBackupCopies=14 or
as many as you want to.
Don't forget you will need all your drivers, video, sound card, printer, scanner
etc when you reinstall.
