Well you can download what ever version you are using.

Firefox

Thunderbird

Find you version numbers and there are plenty to choose from on there.

As for saving your archival files are you taking about Favorites and emails?

Just run FireFox and save a web site then do a search on your hard drives for all 
files created that day. It will show you where that favorite as been saved. The same 
goes for Thunderbird just open it and create an new email folder then do another 
search.
