The solution may be as simple as uninstalling the Adobe Acrobat Reader, rebooting, and then reinstalling it.

Or install an older version if you prefer.

Choose an old version of the Acrobat Reader from http://www.universitario.com.br/dti/downloads/pdf/acrobatreader/
