If the CDrom drive works in DOS, try this...
Turn on the computer, at the first boot screen keep pressing "del" until the BIOS
main screen loads up, find CMOS or boot order or similar. Then change the first (if
there is more than one) to Cdrom. Save the changes and the computer should restart.
Put in your new OS CD, e.g. Windows ME, Windows XP, Vista etc. and you should be
offered a choice. Load with Cdrom support or without, choose the first, wait a moment
and you will be dumped at the command prompt. Type "D:\" (enter) then type "setup"
(enter) and continue from there. (If you didn't put in the new CD fast enough, and
the computer starts loading Win98, just leave the disc in there and reboot)
