I ended up doing it manually, through Device Manager and its included driver updates
function, simply pointing it at various Win98 INF files on a CD that had both W98
& W2k/XP drivers (the original X850 XTP CD had only the latter, but I bought a 9800
XT late in that one's life cycle, and its CD had X850 drivers also).
For Win98, I had to accept 16-Bit color saturation, though, or the adapter would
shut itself down after 20 to 40 minutes. Weird stuff.
Thanks, again.
