possible to get an XP scanner working in 98?

Lexmark X1240 Color All in One only shipped with xp/vista drivers. Is there a way
to either convert these drivers to work in 98, or, are there any 'open source' drivers
available that will get it running? I would be very grateful for any leads or suggestions
in relation to this. thankyou.
