Don't forget to mention the insecurity.
|then I suggest you download {Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1}

Well, if you are bound and determined to use Internet Exploder,
yes, at least use **the latest** that will work with your OS.
|[...]I find that IE6 has its own problems.
|
You have a gift for understatement.
|I've never had IE come up with so many problems as IE6.
|
Any M$ browser that will work under Win9x is mired in the last century.
{Keith now points in an EVEN MORE DANGEROUS direction.}
|I've used IE5.0 no problem. IE5.5 no problem
|
Retrograde motion in **online** software is FOOLISH.
The #1 reason browsers are upgraded is that THEY CONTAIN VULNERABILITIES.
The older the browser, the greater the risk it will ASSIST in infecting your box.
|but IE6.0 is sometimes a pain in the arse.
|
All versions of Internet Exploder (certainly anything that will run under W98)
are **an infection waiting to happen**.
The answer is **a MODERN browser**--one that has been upgraded RECENTLY.
A pop-up blocker is NATIVE to Mozilla browsers;
tabbed browsing too (you will LOVE that after you use it for a few minutes).
Adding the NoScript extension (or PrefBar) to a Mozilla browser
makes a quantum leap in security (and soothes your nerves from annoyances).
Adding extensions like AdBlock, FlashBlock, NukeAnything, GreaseMonkey...
makes Web browsing a joy again
--instead of the chore so many idiot page builders try to make it.

There is always a better solution than Microsoft software,
be it browser, email client, office suite, or operating system.
If you are stuck using a M$ OS,
everything else can still be replaced with something better
--almost always FOR FREE.
To quote an old saying:
"If the answer is 'Microsoft', it must have been a STUPID question".
