Hi April.

The normal cause of this problem is your video card drivers. Make sure you have the 
latest drivers for your system.

As Bob says if there are any yellow exclamation marks on any devices or red ones 
that could also be a problem.

I will say this again but the comments I've had back of previous posts say this makes 
no difference. Be leave me it does.

While you are looking at Device Manager look what is showing under Monitor. If it 
says default monitor you will need to obtain drivers for your specific monitor. Or 
you could look through the list of available drivers and just find a SVGA monitor, 
that normally works.
