I've never had any problems with Gdisk. .
If you were able to use Fdisk do not reuse Fdisk or Gdisk. You said the partition
is active. That is good.
Are you positive the correct Cd-rom drive letter is D:\?
Did you Format the hard drive. If not you must do so. Boot the computer using
the Win98 boot Floppy and at the A:\> prompt
Use this command,
Format C: /S
Then tap the keyboard enter key.
After formatting the hard drive
change to drive C:\ then type in
MD C:\WIN98
Then tap the keyboard enter key.
Next change back to D:\ and type in
D:\COPY *.* C:\WIN98
Then tap the keyboard enter key.
After the .cabs have been copied to the C:\WIN98 Folder, change back to drive C:\
and type in
C:\WIN98\setup.exe /ie /ih /im /iq/ /ir /is
Then tap the keyboard enter key.
Next:
Remove the Win98 Boot Floppy and the Win98 Install Cd From their Drives.
Then tap the keyboard enter key.
Hopefully Win98 Will Install. {Note: if successful the Win98 .cabs were copied to
the C:\Win98 Folder and will be installed from the hard drive.}
Below are examples of the syntax you used:
D:\>D:\ would not be correct in any of your examples.
incorrect syntax:
D:\>D:\GDISK 1 /DISKWIPE /Y
correct syntax:
D:\GDISK 1 /DISKWIPE /Y
This is one example of what gdisk does:
GDISK 1 /CRE /PRI /SZ:100% /FOR /Q /V:Primary /Y
gdisk edits the 1st hard drive, creates a primary partition of 100% allowable size,
quick formats with label of Primary and answers yes to all prompts.
