Set up your file manager to display file extensions.
Now, what is the name and the extension of this huge file?
I'm betting it's FILE00xx.CHK.
If you have opened up a bunch of your data files and they all look OK,
you could just delete the backup file which SCANDISK made.
If you have any doubt about the integrity of your data files,
copy the backup file to external media before deleting it.
(Getting useable data out of it will be a major pain,
but at least the data won't be lost.)
...and, if having 300MB of HDD space used up puts a crimp in your computing,
you need to do some SERIOUS disk maintenance.
