No Printer

I had a working HP Photosmart printer using a USB port on my PC and now the printer
isn't listed. I tried unistallating/reinstalling but it never completes the install.
I am able to scan to the printer though!
Add Printer Wizard never finds the driver either.
Other printers dont install completely either -I get a "missing .dll" sometimes.
