There are a billion things that can throw a BSoD. You are screwed.

If you tried to install a M$ OS without first backing up your personal files
then you got what you deserve.
If I have described your situation correctly, take your box to a pro
(or someone else with a working box who knows a bit about computers)
and have him try to back up your personal/data files.
Anything else is a waste of time IMO.

From that point, I suspect that you will have to reinstall the old version of Windoze
before you can install an XP upgrade version.
(I don't know for sure; I don't give a crap about XP.)

You may just be able to spoof it by putting
a few files that the XP upgrade is looking for onto the HDD
so that it will consider the system upgradeable.
Again: I never cared enough about XP to investigate that.

If that *is* the case, you will need someone who knows those details.
The XP forum is the place to find those people.
