That is the easiest route, and I appreciate the reminder I got here on how-to. But
there have been several times over the years where the problems have been large,
and I could not get to a working-windows. And as the system freezes yet again, and
you have to reboot again, you cringe as good registries fall off the end of the short-list,
replaced by yet another dud. Thanks to the advice here, and further hunting through
gewg's search advice, I am now a happy user of cabrest! This allows restoration of
a number of (I have set to 14) registries straight from the root directory in dos.
If I can't get to windows, I still have options. Great stress-reliever.
