  • Your speaker must be plugged into the GREEN socket.
  • Pull the plug out and push it all the way in. Oxidation on the plugs can make them lose contact.
  • There is a position where they can appear to be pushed in but are not far enough in.
  • Have you ever tried these speakers with that sound card? Some sound cards have enough output to drive passive speakers. I remember when I went to a new sound card and got virtually no sound out and found it had to be paired with amplified speakers.
  • Check Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Sound & Game Controller . Take a look at the Properties. That will tell you if the driver is enabled. See if the driver matches the sound card. Mine says Soundblaster PCI which is right because I have a Soundblaster PCI card.
  • Press F8 while starting up and take a look thru your CMOS settings. Is there a check to switch between an onboard sound chip and a separate sound card?
