Hello again Bob
Here's what I found in the properties for msxml3.dll:
File Version: 8.90.1101.0
Description: MSXML 3.0 SP9
Size: 1.05MB (1,104,896 bytes), 1,114,112 bytes used
I didn't stop at system tools, Bob, it's just that the options
listed under system tools did not include 'System Information'.
Here's what's listed:
Character Map
Clipboard Viewer
Disk Cleanup
Disk Defragmenter etc
It's all in alphabetical order and the only entry with 'System'
is 'System Monitor'
No, I haven't done the windows update but will. I also found
a site listing all wind98se updates that ever came out. So I
will pay them a visit again after I have checked everything
on the MS update site. I have done the SFC and all I did there
was make sure I had all the latest/newest versions of files.
Thanks for the link, I will check it out.
I have IE6SP1 saved and it's also still available at MS, so if all
else fails I will remove and reinstall it. Guess I got my work cut
out for a while.
Just one more thing that must have something to do with this problem:
I have 3 online money accounts that are all serviced by the
same system. I had problems getting around in one and called
this morning. They said that I'm supposed to be able to see 4
tabs across the top while in the accounts. On 2 I don't see them,
but I have no browser crashes. Now on the third one, as soon as
I log in, I get the
"IE has encountered a problem and will be shut down..." message.
I see the tabs in this account but cannot proceed because of the
error. When I look into the technical data, there is the problem
module msxml3.dll again.
The tech people I spoke with walked me thru some stting changes
but nothing made a difference.
Well, I will do some legwork and return when done. Thanks!!!
Miss Chris
