Hi,Christel,
It appears that you have a newer version of the file. I found the link below, which
shows which version is compatible with IE6 SP1.

Is it possible that you tried IE7 at some point, or picked up IE6 SP1 for WinXP?
I think I'd try to uninstall IE then re-install from a version compatible with Win98SE.
MS doesn't make this easy, you have to read everything carefully since they all
come under the same KB# in the Download Catalog.
I would stay away from alternate Download sites unless you've used them & found them
reliable. I think I still have a link for a Freeware site that lists Legacy versions
of IE6. I will forward it to you when I find it.
I'll get what I can find & post back.
