How to boot up Win98 Second Edition without a keyboard, and a few network questions.

It's a long story.
I recently installed a Linksys CAT5 Network port into a Compaq Windows 98. It works
perfectly. However, there are only 4 ports in the Network Router. This means that
I am unable to hook up the old 98 into the router. I want to share files with said
computer and my Windows XP Proffesional, but my network has been previously set up
to go through the Router and back to share files. I already enabled it to share files
with a Windows ME in my house. Thus, my father told me to take the CAT5 router and
hook one end in the 98 and the other in the XP. This is the only way that can work,
I have tried every other way. Spending money is NOT an option.
So, my first question is:
"How do you set up a network literally between to Windows computers with nothing
in the way between them (i.e. just a blue CAT5 wire hooking them directly together)?"
In addition, I can't boot the Windows 98 at all. It seems the only way to do it is
to press F1 to boot. Unfortunately, the only compatible keyboard (a 1984 IBM) in
the house died today, and is unable to function. In order to install a new keyboard,
I would need a new driver. The only way to install a driver is when the computer
is turned on. This means that I am stuck on the Compaq screen. With no keyboard,
how would I boot the thing up?
My second question is:
"How do you boot Windows 98 Second Edition WITHOUT a keyboard?"
Please answer this question quickly!
Sincerely,
TurtleShroom
