Sounds like it's maybe a problem with Flash? Flash doesn't work well on either of 
my old PCs, and it seems incredibly inefficient, so I try to avoid it. You could 
disable JavaScript to block Flash when needed.

I advise against using Internet Explorer with an old OS, because of the number of 
times I was hacked. I use K-Meleon.

For a problematic youtube video, you could maybe try downloading the FLV file, perhaps 
via the website keepvid.com, and you can play the video file in a media player such 
as VLC or Gomplayer.
