Amen.
|You could disable JavaScript to block Flash when needed.

The FlashBlock extension for Mozilla-compatible browsers makes this duck soup.
The PrefBar Extension for Gecko browsers makes turning stuff on & off dirt-simple.

We repeat that A LOT around here (noting the CERT advisory from 2004).
Some people haven't taken the beans out of their ears yet.

That's what it takes for some people.
Others learn from the horror stories that other folks have endured.

That's the ticket. Gecko-based browsers (see "Mozilla-compatible", above)
cache of
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_web_browsers#Gecko-based_browsers
are good tools and are free (gratis AND libre).
Once you use tabbed browsing and discover the wealth of extensions available,
you ask "WTF have I been doing using a browser from the previous century?".
SeaMonkey also includes an email client that just smokes Outbreaks in Excess.
That email capability is also available as a stand-alone item (Thunderbird).
...and if Firefox/SeaMonkey/... doesn't suit you,
there's Opera, which is freeware and is also FAR more secure than Internet Exploder.
