Gewg. your thinking one of my drives is off?
I burned both copies of the ISO on the same drive. It is my RICOH CD burner drive.
It is in my XP box I am using to access this forum and the internet.
My first burning effort I used NERO to make "bootable" CD out of the Ubuntu ISO,
but it would not boot in my other box.
I loaded Ubuntu in the XP box, accessed it, used Brasero from within Ubuntu to burn
the exact same ISO on the exact same burner ( my RICOH) and this time it was "bootable"
in my other box.
If a drive was mis-aligned I think it still wouldn't have loaded in the other ( non-XP)
box, but it worked when I used Brasero to make the CD.
Only difference between the CD's is the program I used to burn the copies and the
OS supporting that program. Nero & XP first = wouldn't boot, Ubuntu & Brasero = would
boot.
Still not sure why it worked.
