I have had experience in that.
I read the instructions. I made very sure that I keyed in exactly what I was told
to. In less than a minute the job was done.
After I had done that I got an email back from a service that would sell me the updated
chip for $100+. As gewg pointed out that would require unsoldering the old one from
the mobo. Then solder in the appropriate socket. Then install the chip. But I
emailed the salesman back that the problem had been fixed.
Reread the instructions. Cross check the OEM site for any disturbing news. Check
a search engine for any disturbing news. Be alert but be relaxed. Do it.
