samantha, try this before you reinstall.
Restart the computer and hold down the F8 Key till a boot menu appears. select "COMMAND
PROMPT ONLY" from the menu.
At the C: prompt type; "SCANREG_/FIX". (No Quotes, the underscore indicates a Space.)
Hit ENTER.
When the proces is finished you should receive the message, "Windows has Repaired
Your System Registry"
Type "win", Hit Enter.
Post back here with results.
