The Compaq disgnostic partition sort of follows the IBM model. Boot from a floppy.
Go into FDISK. delete all partitions on the drive. Remove the boot floppy and insert
the first Compaq diagnostics disk. It should offer to create the disgnostics partition.
Let it do so and follow prompts. If it does not, boot with boot floppy, FDISK create
a 2mb primary and format it. After diags partition is created, boot w/ floppy, FDISK,
create a DOS primary for rest of drive and make it active. Now you can install your
o/s. Warning: don't do any of this if you don't have a boot floppy or the media
to install your o/s. Also, be aware you will lose everything on the drive when you
create the diags partition. Don
