Did you verify that the motherboard will support Win 9X?? Most new ones don't and
from what you have posted, I would bet that yours may not, especially if it has an
Intel chipset. Win 9X won't have the drivers for the newer boards, and most manufacturers
will not supply drivers as the design of the hardware is basically incapable of supporting
the older Windows systems. Intel for instance on newer boards (with the PCI-e slots)
will NOT support Win 9X. If you do manage to get them to start, they will only run
very sickly in legacy mode and you can't do anything when you do get it to start..
In addition, there is a processor speed limitation of 2.1 gig in Win 95 and Win 98
FE, but I have also observed issues on some newer boards with Win 98 SE and ME (which
were patched) to use processors above 2.1 gig. You say that yours is a 3 gig Intel
so you need a patched system. Be aware also, that the memory limitation patch won't
work on some motherboards. I have a system like that as we speak. Also a known
problem.
