|Just do as suggested do a format and rebuild.
|Again you will need all your drivers for your hardware,
|sound card, graphics card, printer, scanner etc.
|Plus you will need the Win98SE CD.

We both forgot to mention that for each of the application programs[1]
(ESPECIALLY if they're MICRO$OFT apps)
an install disk is needed because (as mentioned under "really, really dumb"),
the configuration information about those (in the Registry) will get nuked.
Again, "Thank you, Microsoft--for making things unnecessarily difficult."
[1] M$Office, PhotoShop, Adobe Acrobat, Nero, your software firewall[2]
anti-virus[3], multiple anti-spyware apps[3], anti-hijacking[3],
any non-M$ browser and/or email program[4], etc.
[2] Norma, you DO run a software firewall. Right?
[3] Not needed by folks who run a *proper* (non-M$) operating system.
[4] Highly recommended; Internet Exploder and Outbreaks In Excess
(especially those versions available for Win98) are prime infection vectors.
...and Firefox, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, Opera will look & feel the same
when you finally switch to a modern, SECURE (non-M$) operating system
that doesn't treat you like a thief.
