Perhaps
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=site:annoyances.org+"don't+need"+autoexec+config.sys+msconfig
While you have MSCONFIG running,
go ahead and weed out any Startup items you don't absolutely need:

You can make the changes permanent later:

|AND hyragliphics that look very foreign.

hieroglyphics
|This is something I have never seen and it changes every time.
|Everything still works fine from that point on,

Sounds like a broken app.
Then again, maybe you have a silly instruction in AUTOEXEC.BAT like
TYPE [FILENAME.EXT]
(and the file specified there is a *.EXE).
The random nature *does* sound malevolent.
If you are doing foolish things (like using Internet Exploder), stop that.

No one here bothers with infections issues any more.
Take those problems to a "malware forum".
|[...]I have spent all day on google trying to figure this out.

While I really like Google's search engine (powerful syntax),
their database is much smaller than Yahoo's. 8-(
The fact that *this* site has made an agreement with Google
to be its default search mechanism is just **absurd** when you realize
GOOGLE DOES A LOUSY JOB OF INDEXING THIS SITE. 8-(
