Thanks Gewg for all the links and info.
It's going to be difficult to know the exact culprit, since this issue was an intermittent
problem before. I'll keep trying some of the MS t-shooter if it persists. Right now,
it shuts down ok.
In the MS t-shooter, in the bootlog.txt file(dated 3/31/09), they say the last line
should be EndTerminate=KERNEL. My last line is Terminate=Win32; which they say can
be a problem with a 32 bit program blocking a thread.
I have no clue what 32bit programs I have.
There are some other things I can try like pulling out the video card and replacing.
I previously had some un-expected problems with a display adapter, which I replaced.
I could also use the patch, but MS wants you to check out all the other possible
issues first.
I have a Supermicro P5MMS98 motherboard, which I downloaded the BIOS. I can try that
too, if the problem comes back.
I still get the cloud screen on startup...which lasts a good 15 seconds.
Do you have any info on the 32 bit prgrams I may have, or what they are?
Also, all these Autoexec._av, .001, .adk, .dos, .nu4, .tsh files? Could I delete
them? The Autoexec.tsh file is a new one, and dated and timed exactly as my Autoexec.bat
file(4/3/09 9:51pm). I think it was created when I unchecked the boxes in msconfig
(Autoexec.bat tab). I'll leave the Autoexc.bat there (in C:).
Why don't I have Scanreg & Explorer in the Startup tab in msconfig anymore? Seems
I used to remember them being here before. I also have KB891711 and KB91547 in the
startup which I leave checked. I also leave checked...System tray, firewall( 2lines),
antivrus(3 lines), and LoadPowerProfile(2 lines) Thanks again.
