BTDT. I had a free ISP who managed to delete its subscribers list.
All I had to do was sign up again--but I needed access to do that. 8-(

My luck wasn't _that_ bad.

Is all the hardware Linux-compatible?
(Like XP--and unlike Win9x--Linux
has a hardware compatibility list.)[1]
Though the default install can run dog-slow with lesser amounts of RAM,
Debian-based Linux (Ubuntu is one of those) *will* run on old boxes.

Got a buddy with a CD burner and a fast connection?
[1] Linux has the best hardware compatibility of *any* OS
(especially in its out-of-the-box state)
