Check the manufacture's support website for win98 drivers for the printer.  If they 
are listed, download and install, then attached the printer.  If none are listed 
for win98 (only listed for XP, Vista, MACs), then return the printer for a refund. 
 And, before buying another one, check first that it says it supports your operating 
system.

Also, be sure to know whether you have plain win98 or the second edition on the computer. 
 I have seen many cases in recent years in which 98SE is supported, but plain 98 
is not.

Finally, it is possible that you will have to settle for an older printer to get 
win98 compatibility.
