Plug n Play won't detect hardware info

Hi to all,
I've bought a Fujifilm SD card reader which plugs into a USB port like any other
flash drive. It came with a driver installation file for Win 98se systems. The
installation package has to be executed before the hardware is plugged in... OK.
Done this and rebooted as required. Plugged in the card reader, New Hardware Found
pops up after Building Driver Database... OK.
Generic USB 2.0 Card found then the usual choice of Search for Location or Specify
Location. I pointed the wizard to the 'inf.' file (which off the top of my head
I think is musb75.inf) and it came back to me saying No Information on Your Hardware!
What? I looked at the inf file thinking perhaps it was the wrong one or badly written;
no it was correct I think: version %chigaco% etc so it was for all platforms, so
I thought perhaps just a bad installation file; I then uninstalled it.
I downloaded another from Fuji's website... exactly the same result. Tried a universal
generic set of card reader drivers for W98se from the web that someone was offering...
exactly the same!
Now I have a lot of USB devices running off my old faithful OS and all work spot
on, can't understand why I'm struggling with this one.
Be grateful if anyone could shed some light??
Thanks, Sandy.
