"The Vole[1] has been muttering about killing off the software for over two years,
which is probably why it has been largely ignored."

If you've been saddled with this piece of junk,
you probably know that it isn't compatible with ANYTHING[2],
setting an all-time low--even for Micros~1.
...and, as mentioned in that article[3], there have been BETTER options for YEARS
(and since I'm the one pointing them out,
I think it goes without saying that they involve Free Software).

[1] The writers at El Reg (motto: "Biting
the hand that feeds IT")
make great sport of M$, in recent years referring to them as a small rodent.
[2] ...and to those still struggling along with just WordPad,
you also have my condolences.
[3] ...OOo, however, is the most conservative of this lot
and its children (being more tolerant of M$ technologies)
are better candidates in this regard.
Ubuntu Linux (as well as KWord and Abiword) were also mentioned in my 2nd link.
