I've been think about this since I had a reminder someone has replied.
Just check your Config.sys file with NotePad. Check if there is a line saying
Lastdrive = G
Or any drive letter.
If you trying to make a W drive and the Lastdrive letter is higher that W you won't
make one.
Just add Lastdrive = Z at the bottom of the Config.sys and save it.
Another thing with Win98 if hold the Ctrl key down while its booting up you will
see the DOS boot menu with 3) Safe Mode. Select 2) Logged (\Bootlog.txt). It boots
each line of the Config.sys and Autoexec.bat and asks if you want to use the line
it shows. Just press Y to accept or N to not use that line and see which line is
causing it to lock up.
