Well, solved memory problem then this popped up.
Have been running SUPERantispyware 4.24.0.1004 with no problems, but in last attempt,
pops a "looking for a newer browser" box and stops there. I'm using I.E. 6.0 SP1
and Firefox 2. xxxxx.
Figured it was corrupt since it still supports 98SE, I went to add/remove and uninstalled.
Seemed to proceed O.K. then froze the computer.
Performed a hard shutdown. No option.
It automatically runs scanreg on startup (O.K.) then I went to add/remove. It was
gone.
From past history I know some of these programs leave a lot of garbage behind. So.....
I deleted the folder with the remanants of the program, searched files and folders
( including hidden) and removed a few more still left over.
Did the same in registry with a couple dozen entries and keys to clean it out. I
know !! careful. I've done this dozens of time and careful is my first consideration.
Fine.
Reboot downloaded a new version (4.30.0.1004) and tried a re-install. No Joy.
On install attempt, it pops a ( you still have 4.24.0.1004 installed, would you like
to remove it) box.
Clicking O.K. it doesn't. Just goes in a loop of bringing that last prompt back up,
and will not re-install .
Been thru Google looking and nothing relevant comes up.
Any suggestions. One of the really good tools I have on this IBM. Says it stiil supports
98.
Jack.....
