Win 98 needs reinstall various options

Hi Guys, I have an old Win 98 system on a 1 Gig 4100 Dell. It has been giving
me plenty of gip with numerous error messages ,freezes, I have decided to either
reinstall or install a Win 98 O/S. Problem is I got this system preinstalled
on the computer from the local college. I have tried to get the original key with
" the Magical Jellybean" but this system would not install the program, another
error message. I have at my disposal (1) Acronis true Image 2010,) (2) external
usb 80gig hard drive) (3) one copy of Win 98 Operating System disc, " came from
the same college without serial key " they must have thought I was a computer genius)
(4) Nero 7 , (5) CD/ DVD rewriter. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions how I
might get a new install with the materials I have at hand all ideas welcomed.
This is an old computer I gave up on a year ago however there are some interesting
programs I would like to use again which will not work on XP. All help welcomed,
