how do I get to MS-DOS and then back to windows 98 again to fix a prob w/ software Thursday, June 7, 2001 at 3:18 pm Windows 98 Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Kim (7 messages posted) this will probably seem like the world's most elementary question but: I have Windows 98 and I have Blackice Defender (personal firewall software) running and want to run a disk defrag but their site (NETWORK ICE site) says the defrag doesn't complete because files are always open --- so they say that to fix this I go to START MS-DOS Prompt and then type in the following at the '>': cd "\Program files\Network ICE\BlackICE" blackd stop exit My question is this: After I type in 'exit' and hit enter, does this take me back to my windows 98 desktop? and after I run defrag, how will I turn my software back on or should it return to normal operation if I restart my computer after defrag? Thanks for helping a totally non-computer literate person!!
