First, you can go yourself to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and click on Product
Updates and see what's what.
Second, you'll be better off removing the automatic Critical Updates thing in
Add/Remove Programs and just checking for yourself at Windows Update (in IE Tools
menu, Windows Update) every couple of weeks.

My Gateway desktop has Microsoft's Windows Update notification
installed. The other day I got the pop-up window saying there
was a critical update available. I clicked the "Show me"
button and got to the Update page just fine, but when I clicked
"Product Updates" I haerd the click sound and nothing
happened. In the lower corner of the page was a yellow caution
icon over a white box and the word error. Anybody know what
happened? The last time I used the update service everything
worked just fine! Thanks
