98 ME reboots by itself and freezes on startup Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at 11:10 am Windows 98 Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Mariusz (5 messages posted) My windows 98me setup has a random problem where some days when I turn it on the system hangs on startup right after the desktop shows up. Then it takes 2-3 resets before it boots completly. Sometimes while this is happening the system just reboots by itself at any given point like 3seconds after windows starts to load or just after windows fully loads. What makes this difficult to diagnose is the fact that this is totally random, it could be fine for weeks and then one day it acts up.
