Hi all, Currently we have a Dell desktop computer with an Adaptec Read / Write CD (in lieu of standard read only CD. This machine is connected to a HP Laserjet network printer (on a masterless peer-to-peer network) and is also used as the File server (to keep files in a central location). The operating system is Windows 98 (preloaded by Dell together with Works 2000 software i.e., Word 2000, Money 2000 etc.). We installed Excel97 and Jetadmin (HP Printer drivers) to this machine. We also have two other Dell machines with a similar setup (except that these machines have a standard read only CD). Whilst the two machines with standard CD have not given us any problems with Word 2000 or Excel 97 programs, the File server machine often closes the Word 2000 / Excel 97 programs. The reasons cited are "Illegal operation performed or HP*.dll file not found". It appears that either the Word 2000 / Excel 97 application programs or parts of these programs are grabbed by the Windows 98 Explorer. Has anyone else experienced similar problems? Is there some known solution to avoid these problems? We have uninstalled and re-installed Word 2000 / Excel 97 programs a few times and also cleaned up the Windows 98 registry. Any help or pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks, Raj
