I'm thinking the problem may be your USB NIC. I'm not 100% sure on this because
I haven't played with any of them yet. But if you have access to another internal
NIC, give that a try and see if it doesn't work. I've done what you're trying to
do many many times with win98 with no problem's whatsoever, and again I repeat, I've
never played with USB NIC's so this leads me to think that it might be causing your
problems.
