Question about 'Getting Rid of the Network Neighborhood/My Network Places Icon'

I have a question about Getting
Rid of the Network Neighborhood/My Network Places Icon: I've followed the
instructions and got a message that the poledit file cannot be found, nor can I open
that file without getting a blank screen. I'd love to get rid of the NN icon, and
would also like to get rid of or disable the "enter user password" popup upon starting.
All I have to do is hit ENTER to bypass that popup, but I want to get rid of it.
There is no network enabled on this computer, nor do I need or want one. Any ideas
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
