Question about 'Things that slow down system bootup'

I have a question about Things that slow down system bootup:

Hi, I installed a second network card to link up pc's at home to share a cable modem. The bootup has gone from about 45 seconds, to 3-1/2 minutes. If I remove the card, bootup goes back to 45 seconds. What gives?
