Question about 'Share an Internet Connection'

I have a question about Share an Internet Connection:

Trying to hookup my son's new PC (Win2000 pro) as client to my Dell (Win98SE) was a nightmare. It was my first try so I expected problems but not two weeks worth. I gave up on ICS through windows, failed at Sygate but finally had success with Winproxy. The remaining issue: I understand my Dell has to be "on" but there are multiple users who need to log on and off. Can I set Winproxy run constantly and not be affected by multiple users? Also, we have a chance at used router ($20). From a performance/accessibility standpoint, is the ANY reason to NOT change to the router? Thanks, Dave
