I have a question about Can't access some websites while using a shared PPPoE connection:

I am running a system with Windows XP which is connected to internet (ADSL + external modem + ethernet/PPPOE). Due to software problems (= not working correctly on XP) I installed a WMWARE 3.0 running win98se using host only networking. I also configured the ICS as described in this article. I was quickly able to reach through ping some dns adresses of my provider and finaly (after applying the MAXMTU patch on the win98 system running in VMWARE) I could reach ONE site (only one) using the internet explorer (www.msdn.com).

Is it possible that VMware somehow does implement a fixed MTU of 1500 for the host-only solution?

Does anybody also experienced the same problem ? (is there a solution for it ?)

A temporary solution I found is to use a proxy on the host system (although I would prefer to remove it).
