Question about 'What to do about a Page-fault, Illegal operation, or Fatal exception Error'

For the last few months, every time I switch on my computer, a message comes up on the desktop saying, "You have made an illegal operation, the system will be shut down." In the Details box, it says simply (sorry, I'm using a Japanese computer so this is an ad lib English translation), "unspecified page error", along with a maze of numbers and words like "Stack Dump" that mean nothing to me. If I open My Computer or something, then click "Shutdown", the box closes and I can go on, but it's annoying and makes me wonder what I did to start this happening. If anyone out there has any suggestions as to the possible cause of this problem and ways to solve it, I'd be grateful.
