Question about 'How do I make the background of desktop icon text transparent?'

I have a question about How do I make the background of desktop icon text transparent?:

After downloading disappear.exe and then executing, a box for 'disappear' shows, but nothing happens. Any help is appreciated. I'm using W98 se.
