Question about Networking Windows XP, 95, 98 & 3.11'

I have a Question about Networking various Windows vers...
the network has a few computers with the following os's:
* Win 95
* Win 3.11 for workgroups
* Win 98
these all can 'see' and access each other just fine
as a temporary thing i have a win XP computer connected
(belongs to my brother & i needed to transfer some data)
..the problem is: the XP comp 'sees' nothing (except itself),
but the 98 & 95 comp's can 'see' AND access it (so i can
add or delete files on the XP from these), the 3.11 also
doesnt see the XP
anyone know why it works in this odd way...allowing some
computers to access, but not seeing them?
i am not using ICS, just a plain IPX/SPX / NetBEUI network
