I have a question about Top
reasons for random, fatal crashes in Windows XP and Windows 2000:
I have a Compaq 5700N windows 98SE, 192 MB Ram 533Mhz Celeron that spontaneously
reboots or freezes. This is a recent occurence that seems to happen during warm weather.
Suspecting overheating, I replaced the heat sink/fan, but the problem still occurs.
Rotated the RAM, problem still occured. I don't think it's a Windows problem because
the system also froze when running Drive Image in DOS mode and the system will freeze
or reboots when just sitting there for a while with minimal applications running
in the background. My only guess now is the Power supply. If anyone else has any
suggestions, they would be appreciated. I had another Compaq with a 300Mhz AMD processor
that would freeze up in warm weather upon boot up, but would run fine the rest of
the year. Has anyone else had problems with Compaqs and warm weather?
