I have a question about How do I install, remove, or re-install one of the components that came with Windows?:

My windows 98 (notSE) came as OEM on a Pavilion PC. It is version 4.10.1998. The Windows Media Player that came with the O/S had worked perfectly but then I installed updated versions when prompted by the Player to do so and have had troubles ever since. I see a Windows Media Player 7.1 in my list of uninstallable programs and was wondering if I will possibly harm the O/S if I try uninstalling it. Thanks.
