My experience was that IE found the available options for HTML Editor, Email, etc as it was being installed (well upgraded to IE6). After the install, I added another Email program but could not change it in the Tools, IInternetOptions, General tab - I could not add a new email program. So I uninstalled IE6 then reinstalled so it recognised the extra email program. A bit ham fisted after seeing your reference to a registry edit. Thanks for the tip.
