Hi Millie,
I can give you some instructions, and I posted a link to further detailed instructions.
No, installing AOL from Add/Remove isn't good enough, but that's the FIRST step in
removing it. Then restart your computer, and you're on your way to manually removing
leftovers. Believe me, there are MANY.
I removed AOL successfully, my own way. Although, most of the connections issues
would be too difficult for me to deal with on the forums. The instructions at this
link will guide you through that.
Completely Uninstall AOL
In my opinion, his instructions aren't brave enough about editing the registry, so
you KNOW you got rid of all the AOL garbage. I assume he didn't want to get inexperienced
users in trouble, so I can't blame him, since he has those posted on a website.
If you're familiar and/or don't mind delving into the Registry Editor and editing
out references to AOL, I have detailed instructions on the "How to Edit and Search
for keywords in the Registry", what to search for specifically regarding AOL. The
instructions are easy to follow and as long as you're careful, you'll do fine. Let
me know, if you want me to post them. Keep in mind, my registry editing instructions
are only in addition to those he has on his website. It's just more extensive registry
editing. It's probably not necessary, but I didn't want any sign of AOL left behind.
